I am truly honored and privileged to be the interim and founding Dean of the College of Business and Management at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. The creation of this new College is a major milestone for East Stroudsburg University as we continue to meet the needs for higher education and foster economic development in the communities we serve.

With the leadership of Dr. Robert Dillman, President and Dr. Ken Borland, Jr., Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the four existing departments that were scattered among many schools within the university will be positioned to combine their academic and individual talents to create the synergy needed to achieve excellence in higher education.

The College of Business and Management comes to ESU and Northeast Pennsylvania at time of dynamic regional growth and economic development. The College comes into existence with a wealth of established ESU business initiatives that lead the path in economic development for the state and the region.

Five strategic priorities were adopted by the College faculty and developed based on the East Stroudsburg University Strategic Plan 2004-2009 titled "For Our Students". Student achievement continues to be our highest priority and is the core of our university's mission. Every change and new initiative should ensure that our students continue to receive a progressive education and a passion for life-long learning.

The priorities of the College of Business and Management are as follows:

  • Priority 1: Academic Excellence
  • Priority 2: Faculty Development
  • Priority 3: Student Recruitment, Selection and Retention
  • Priority 4: Community Connectedness
  • Priority 5: Building Business and Management Programs

By developing the documentation, processes and standards for each department based on their respective accrediting agencies, each program in the College of Business and Management is positioning itself to achieve national and international standards of excellence, as viewed by external accrediting bodies. East Stroudsburg University wants to provide its students an education with high standards of excellence with any program they choose.

As with any new entity, there will be growing pains as we reach to attain those high standards of excellence. The dedicated and talented faculty and staff throughout the College have made a commitment to the strategic priorities and the changes, effort and perseverance necessary to best serve our students, both now and in the future.

I look forward to working with all our stakeholders in the future to bring a clearer vision and mission of how the new College of Business and Management can meet the needs of those we serve.
