Beginning in the fall of 2008, the following admissions guidelines will be enforced. There are three categories by which a student may be admitted into the Business Management Department as a major:
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT:
- Entering freshman: A high school graduate who has not attended a college or university prior to admission to ESU and the department.
Admission Process: The department adheres to the university-wide policy on entrance requirements. Starting in the fall semester of 2008, if a student in this category meets entrance requirements for the university as a whole, he/she shall meet requirements for entrance into the department as a pre-business major. Students will be required to take courses in the pre-business core and achieve a minimum QPA of 2.5 in the pre-business core to be accepted as a Business Management major.
- External transfer: A student enrolled or having been enrolled in a college or university other than ESU prior to admission to ESU and the department.
Admission Process: The department requires that transfer applicants have a minimum QPA of 2.5 transferring credits from another institution of higher education. Dependent on the transferring credits, students will be designated as either pre-business or business management majors.
- Internal transfer: A student enrolled at ESU either as a declared major in another department, as an undeclared major, or as a non-matriculated ESU student prior to admission to the department.
Admission Process: The department requires that internal transfer applicants meet the requirements of the pre-business core and have a minimum Q.P.A. of 2.5 according to the credits completed at ESU. ESU students who wish to change their major to Business Management will review their current standing with the department chair or a faculty advisor. The chair or designate of chair shall interview all applicants and verify the minimum cumulative Q.P.A. before admitting the student as a major.
