The ESU Council of Trustees approved the new College of Business, Management and Economics as of January 1, 2007. Dr. Robert J. Dillman, President of ESU and Dr. Judy G. Hample, chancellor of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education have determined accreditations as the primary initiatives for the new college.
The new College of Business, Management, and Economics consist of five existing departments: Business Management, Economics, Sports Management, Recreation and Leisure Services Management, and Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management. The combined enrollment in these departments was 1,104 during the fall semester '06.
The Business Management program will apply to the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the premier international accrediting agency for business schools. Founded in 1916, it is the largest global accrediting body for schools that offer undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.
The Recreation and Leisure Services Management program is already accredited by the National Recreation and Park Association. The Sport Management program will apply to the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation, and the Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management program is working with the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration to attain accreditation.
