The study and field of Sociology is relevant to a wide range of occupations including criminal justice, social work, management, marketing, social research, government agencies and other private industries. A Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology opens the door to careers in human services, business, education, government, and community relations. This degree is a solid foundation for those interested in graduate work in Sociology as well as in many other disciplines.

Students have a wonderful opportunity to enhance their degree and choose to do a concentration of study in Criminal Justice Administration or in Social Work.

Students in other disciplines are able to Minor in Sociology.

The Department of Sociology is home to scholars with eclectic interests and research topics. In addition to providing a stimulating student-centered learning environment, our faculty is well known for being caring advisers and mentors. The faculty is representative of diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds, religious affiliations, as well as diverse academic specialties.

In addition to the great sense of humor of the entire staff there is a dedication to scholarship, community service, and collegial responsibility.
