To obtain a Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) from East Stroudsburg University with a major in Recreation and Leisure Services Management, a student must complete a minimum of 120 semester hour credits. These credits must be taken in specific categories:
General Education (G.E.) (50 credits)
All ESU students must complete a minimum of 50 credits of General Education. The General Education categories are:
- Humanities -- 15 credits
- Natural Sciences -- 15 credits
- Social Sciences -- 15 creduts
- English Composition -- 3 credits
- Basic Fitness -- 2 credits
Required Major Core Courses (42 - 45 credits)
All students majoring in Recreation & Leisure Services Management must complete the following core courses in the curriculum:
- RECR 150 -- Introduction to Recreation & Leisure Services
- RECR 250 -- Recreation Leadership
- RECR 260 -- Introduction to Therapeutic Recreation
- RECR 270 -- Recreation in Commercial Settings
- RECR 281 -- Outdoor Recreation & Park Management
- RECR 350 -- Special Event & Program Planning
- RECR 351 -- Leisure Services Management
- RECR 390 -- 393 - Practicums (3 out of 4)
- RECR 450 -- Planning & Designing Recreational Facilities
- RECR 452 -- Research Methods
- RECR 486 -- Professional Internship (12 - 15 credits)
Elective Courses within the Department (6 credits)
- All students will completea minimum of two elective courses within the major. These course choices are based on the student's specific career interests.

Free Electives Free electives are courses chosen by a student to complete the required 120 credits to graduate. Faculty will guide student choices.
