Welcome to East Stroudsburg University History Department's Home page. We pride ourselves on being a teaching focused institution with scholars who also contribute publications in their specific field of history.
As we continue to grow, our faculty offers a diverse range in courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
We afford undergraduate and graduate students the unique experience of working closely with professors in a small setting, but allowing them to pursue a degree that meets their personal needs so they will be prepared for a fulfilling career.
The department's most popular track is the Social Studies Secondary Education concentration.
The program is highly valued because of its balanced combination of content, pedagogy, and high placement level.
We are also proud to be among a small list of history departments throughout the country to have a Public History concentration for undergraduate students.
In addition, we provide internships at local museums, historical societies, and living history sites.
At the graduate level, we offer a Masters of Arts in History as well as a Masters' of Education in History.
Our Masters' program works closely with the College of Education in certifying graduate students who decide they would like to teach at the secondary level.
Of the 14 Pennsylvania state universities we were the first to offer a graduate program in history and therefore have a rich tradition in placing our best students in doctoral programs.
