Bachelor of Science with a Computer Science & Computer Security major – 59 semester hours
Candidates for graduation from the Bachelor of Science programs in Computer Science and Computer Security must satisfactorily complete all university graduation requirements and the following departmental requirements.
A complete list of courses is available in the Computer Science Undergraduate Course Catalog. There are additional recommendations for students with specific areas of interest.
Students should note that some of the courses form a critical path and that these courses must not be delayed or they can result in an overall delay in the completion of the degree.
This path can be determined by examining the relationships of the prerequisites for the Computer Science and Computer Security degrees.
- Required major courses:
CPSC 111, 141, 151, 232, 240, 251, 321, 325, 326, 330, 445, 448, 453, 460, 461, 486, 487; three semester
hours of Computer Science electives numbered 234 and above.
- Mathematics corequisite courses: MATH 140, 141, 220, 311, 320.
- Distributive corequisite courses:
ENGL 204; CMST 111; and one year of science courses that include
laboratories: BIOL 114, 115, or CHEM 121, 123, 124, 126, or PHYS 161,
162; PHYS 240 may be substituted for PHYS 162.
