Gonzalo Bruce — Manager Office of International Programs
Gonzalo joined ESU in June, 2007 to launch the Office of International Programs. He was raised between Chile and the United States. He has a Bachelor of Arts in History and Geography from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso, a Master degree in International Public Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh and is a Ph.D. candidate in higher education and student affairs.
Before coming to ESU, he was in Columbus, Ohio working on his Ph.D. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Ohio State University (OSU). He is now completing his doctoral dissertation entitled "Institutional design and its effect on internationalizing research universities." During his time as a doctoral student, he worked as a Graduate Assistant at the OSU Multicultural Center. Before enrolling in the doctoral program, he worked for six years in international education. Among his hobbies are spending time with his family, hiking and biking. He enjoys traveling, listening to Brazilian music and practicing foreign languages. He is an English and Spanish native speaker and loves practicing Portuguese and French.
Heather Metz — Graduate Assistant with roles in Advising & Communications
Heather graduated from ESU in December, 2005 with a Bachelors of Arts and will be returning to ESU to complete her Graduate degree in Professional and Secondary Education. Aspiring to be a teacher in Foreign Languages, she is extremely excited to get started as the new Graduate Assistant in the Office of International Programs. She is eager to have ESU students and faculty more involved and informed about International Education. She hopes not only to have ESU students going global, but creating an exceptional atmosphere that allows International student's who study here at ESU, have the experience of a lifetime.
Though she has not had the opportunity to study abroad herself just yet, she looks forward to traveling the world and having the opportunity to indulge in what other cultures have to offer such as dance, dining and architecture. With an endless passion for dance, she hopes to one day learn a variety of cultural dances. Heather also enjoys surfing, hiking and has much interest in fashion and photography. Her dream is to travel to Cuba with her grandparents to reunite and share Cuban coffees with friends and family whom they have not seen in over 36 years.
