Students should have reached the intermediate level of German prior to their exchange. JKUL offers an intensive German course prior to the beginning of each semester (included in ISEP benefits). Intensive German courses are available during the academic year in conjunction with a reduced number of regular courses (included in ISEP benefits). About 300 courses are taught in English each semester. No prior German proficiency is necessary for those courses. |

Students should have intermediate-level German (two years of college German). Students with less than two semesters of German background are accepted under the condidtion that they only attend German-language instruction courses in their first semester and do not take take regular courses until their second semester. KFUG offers pre-session intensive German courses three weeks before the beginning of each semester. The course fee is about 150 Euro and is not included in ISEP benefits. Early move-in to the student dorms can be arranged for the duration of these courses at no additional cost.
Apart from the intensive German courses, KFUG offers a range of German language courses during the semester (grammar, conversation, oral text competence, presentation techniques, Austrian literature and civilization, Austrian German, Business German) and one course (i.e. worth two U.S. credits) is included in ISEP benefits. Students can, of course, take more, but will have to pay a small fee for each course (45 Euro). |
