Deadlines should represent to you the endpoint in the application process (i.e., the final completion of your file) rather than the beginning of that process. The timely completion of your application is your responsibility, and it is most important -- incomplete applications cannot be considered.
To ensure that the Graduate Studies & Research Office will have adequate time to assemble all items submitted on your behalf, you should send the application at least five weeks before the stated deadline.
For Fall Semester (January 1 - July 1)
Final Cut-Off Date for Processing New Applications - July 1st is the deadline for submission of application and supporting documents with your non-refundable $50.00 apllication fee, this is the date after which no new applications will be processed. (Exceptions: Professional and Secondary Education - March 15th - classes begin in August). Speech-Language Pathology admit students only once a year and requires an earlier deadline of February 1st. Clinical Exercise Physiology & Exercise Science also only admit student once a year, which have a deadline of March 15th.
All students seeking fall admission should meet the appropriate deadline, since it is likely that enrollment in many departments will be filled soon after this date. Late applications may be considered for admission only if all spaces have not been filled, and for financial aid only if funds are still available.
Departments vary in their willingness to consider late applications. Some departments adhere strictly to the stated deadline and will not look at those that arrive late. Other departments will continue to review applications until all spaces have been filled. In every case, the earlier you get materials to the Graduate Studies & Research Office, the better your chances for full consideration.
For Spring Semester (September 1 - November 30)
November 30 - Final date for completion of applications to the spring semester, space permitting. (Exceptions: Professional and Secondary Education - September 15th - classes begin in January). There is no reduced fee for early application to the spring semester.
For Summer Session (January 1 - April 30)
April 30 - Final date for completion of applications to the spring semester, space permitting. (Exceptions: Professional and Secondary Education - January 16th - classes begin in May). There is no reduced fee for early application to the spring semester.
