A search of research dealing with what employers want in potential employees will show you that being a skilled communicator is of the utmost importance in establishing a successful career.

Whether you are majoring in Business, Biology, Theater, Psychology, English, Health or another major area, a minor in Communication Studies will give you an edge over your peers because you will have completed training in one of the most sought after skills.

Students minoring in Communication Studies are encouraged to get involved in the activities offered by the department including the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and our award winning campus radio station- 90.3 WESS. In 2014, WESS won the prestigious College Radio Woodie Award, presented to the "best student- operated radio station in the country" by mtvU. Additionally, at our annual scholarship and awards banquet held every spring we honor our “Top Minors” with awards and certificates!
