UndergraduatesSince 1981, East Stroudsburg University has offered the opportunity for senior citizens to enroll in courses tuition-free. To qualify, you must be a legal resident of Pennsylvania, sixty years of age or older and retired (i. e. not presently engaged in full-time employment).
Under this program, senior citizens are limited to a maximum of six credits (usually two courses) per semester in a non-degree status. If you plan to take more than six credits or enroll as a degree-seeking student, you are not eligible for the senior citizen tuition waiver. (See the Admissions section of the website for procedures for admission as a degree seeking student or a non-degree seeking special student.)
Registration for classes is done on a "space available" basis. That is, after all other degree-seeking students have had the opportunity to register, senior citizens may sign up. To apply for the Senior Citizens tuition waiver for Summer, Contact the Summer Sessions Office (570) 422-2872 and an application will be mailed to you. An application and eligibility form must be filled out and returned to the Center for Enrollment Services.
For Fall Semester, beginning in September and Spring Semester beginning in January Senior citizens must submit an application and eligibility form for each of these SEMESTERS. For the Senior Citizen Tuition Waiver applications, eligibility form and instructions for completing them, go to the Admission section of the website.
Graduate SchoolIf you have a bachelor's degree and wish to take graduate work, please do not complete the undergraduate Senior Citizen Tuition Waiver forms. The Graduate School has a senior citizen application for those interested in higher-level courses. Please contact the Graduate School at (570) 422-3536 for this application.
