The Learning Center is located in Rosenkrans East and provides
university-wide academic support services. The Tutorial Program,
Disability Services, Undeclared Advising, and At-Risk Advising are all
housed in the Learning Center. The Learning Center sponsors
drop-in tutoring labs, workshops, and success-centered videos for
students.
Students who need tutorial assistance in most subject areas can find it
in The Learning Center located in Rosenkrans East Hall. The Learning
Center offers "Drop-In" Tutoring Labs that require no advance
appointment in the following areas:
- Mathematics
- Writing
- Economics
- Accounting
- Physics
- Chemistry
These
Labs, which are advertised widely across campus, occur during the
academic year at weekly set times. In addition, special Supplemental
Instruction sessions may be held in select subject areas as:
Psychology, Mathematics, and Chemistry.
The
Learning Center, in collaboration with Student Affairs, offers
workshops called "BALANCE" programs on informational topics such as,
note taking, test taking skills, motivation, choosing a major, drinking
responsibly, using credit wisely, coping with loss, as well as
individual assistance to students who need to develop successful study
techniques.
Both faculty and administrators have high regard for the value of
on-going, structured tutoring to the academic success of students. ESU
envisionedanational organization concerned with tutoring
and initiated the development of the National Tutoring Association
(NTA) in 1993, now an organization of over 300 members from 30 states
and 3 countries. For further information regarding the University-Wide
Tutorial Program, visit Dr. David Rheinheimer in room 25 Rosenkrans
East or call the number listed to the right.
