Family Challenge 2009 At Stony Acres Brings ESU Families Together

This fall’s record student enrollment at ESU had a direct impact on the university’s Family Weekend which also set a record with twice the number of families, compared to last year, participating in the annual “Family Challenge” at Stony Acres. Fourteen university student families (more than 50 participants) teamed up to take the “Challenge,” a unity and teamwork building exercise, at ESU’s 119-acre wildlife sanctuary and recreational facility. The event consists of maneuvering a series of low and high elements on an obstacle course.

According to Madeline Constantine, the program director at Stony Acres, the “Challenge” required all participants to compete in a series of low and high elements on the site’s obstacle course.

Founded in 1962, and owned by the students of ESU, Stony Acres is a picturesque expanse of woodlands, meadows, wetlands and a 1 ½-acre pond. For more information about the facility or upcoming events held at Stony Acres, please contact Madeline Constantine, program director at (570) 223-8316 or mconstantine@po-box.esu.edu, or visit their website at http://www4.esu.edu/current_students/campus_life/saa/stony_acres/stony_acres.cfm.
