ESU Represented at Compact for Faculty Diversity Institute in Arlington, Va.

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania was among the 50 universities nationwide to participate in the 16th annual Compact for Faculty Diversity Institute last week in Arlington, Va. The primary aim of this institute is to increase the number of minority students who earn doctoral degrees and become college and university faculty. Over 1,000 students, doctoral candidates, faculty, and university administrators attended.

Representing East Stroudsburg University were Dr. Thomas Tauer, interim vice provost and graduate dean, Dr. Kimberly S. Adams, associate professor of political science; and Daria Wielebinski, faculty search and recruitment coordinator. The ESU team met with numerous potential doctoral degree candidates and explained the programs and opportunities at ESU. The team's effort is part of the university's initiative to recruit more diverse faculty to ESU and part of the larger effort to address the shortage of racial and ethnic minority faculty members on college campuses nationwide.

Four other universities from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education were also represented at this event. They were Lock Haven University, Bloomsburg University, California University and West Chester University.
