Alcohol Awareness Week Activities
At ESU Open To Community
East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania is hosting a series of events to raise awareness of the dangers associated with underage and dangerous drinking during the week of October 26 to 30. Many colleges and universities across the country take a week in October to highlight regular and ongoing efforts aimed at preventing college students from making unwise decisions leading to undesirable outcomes. The ESU Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drugs (ATOD) office and student Peer Educators have coordinated these activities for students and the Stroud area community.
For the week of October 26-30:
Monday, October 26 Alcohol Jeopardy Information Booth Hosted by The “RISK” (Re Inventing Student Konnections) Peer Educator Club from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the University Center.
Tuesday, October 27 “My Life Before and After Recovery” by a member from the AA community, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Minsi Residence Hall. An RSVP to Randy Light, coordinator of ESU’s alcohol, tobacco, and other drug services, required to attend this event. Please call 570-422-3298.
Wednesday, October 28 Mock Rape Trial and Panel Discussion with Attorneys Janet Marsh Catina Esq., Michael Rakaczewski Esq. and Brett Reigel. Members of Women’s Resource Center of Monroe County and Stroud Area Police Department will also participate; 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Keystone Room.
Thursday, October 29 What is a 12 Step Group? Andrew Pace, certified addictions counselor, from Little Creek Lodge Rehabilitation Center; 2:00 p.m. in the Hoeffner Science & Technology Center; Room 117.
Friday, October 30 Trip to the Monroe County Jail, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. This event is being coordinated by ESU’s “RISK” Peer Educator Club. The tour will be open to all students.
