ESU Announces Schedule of Fall Planetarium Shows
The stunningly beautiful and realistic planetarium shows at East Stroudsburg University’s new state-of-the-art McMunn Planetarium at the Hoeffner Science and Technology Center will continue to be offered this fall. The following shows are open to the general public at no cost.
September 25, 2009
"Dawn of the Space Age" describes mankind’s quest to travel beyond the Earth’s atmosphere. It is a full-dome computer animated program that reviews human and robotic space travel from Sputnik in 1957 to the International Space Station currently orbiting the Earth.
October 23, 2009
"October Skies," a traditional sky show describing what can be seen in the heavens this month. It will be followed by the feature-filled dome presentation, "Oasis in Space", which describes mankind's current knowledge of the universe and solar system and the search for water and possible life on other worlds.

"Dawn of the Space Age"

"Long Winter Nights," a presentation that will include dramatic images of what can be seen in the heavens during the winter months. This show will be followed by a special dome presentation on Black Holes. Due to the popularity of the new planetarium and its shows, reservations fill up very quickly. Reservations may be made online beginning at 9:00 a.m. on the Monday prior to each show listed above. To make reservations, visit www.esu.edu/planetarium. All reservations will be filled on a first-come first-serve basis.
Those interested may reserve up to four seats for any of these shows. The program is suitable for children but be advised that the planetarium will be quite dark during the sky show and feature show. Please check back to the website frequently for additional dates and times.
