Workshops at ESU to Provide Entrepreneurs with Critical Start-Up Information

A series of workshops designed to provide entrepreneurs with information they need to start a new business will be offered at East Stroudsburg University this summer.

ESU's Center for Research and Economic Development (CFRED) in collaboration with the Pocono Mountains Keystone Innovation Zone (PMKIZ) will host the seminars: How to Start a Business on July 23 and How to Develop a Business Plan, on June 25 and again on August 27.

The seminars will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Reception Center located on the second floor of ESU's University Center located on Normal Street in East Stroudsburg. Keith Yurgosky, M.B.A., a business consultant for the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) for Monroe and Lackawanna counties, will be the instructor.

Brad Klein, director of the ESU Business Accelerator and Pocono Mountains Keystone Innovation Zone (PMKIZ) said, "This is a great opportunity for anyone who is considering starting a new business in the Pocono Mountain region. These workshops can save potential entrepreneurs a lot of time by providing answers to questions that are common to new businesses."
According to Klein, the "First Step" workshop How to Start a Business will focus on registrations, licenses, business structures, taxation, research, break-even tools and local resources. The "Second Step" workshop How to Develop a Business Plan will feature information on business plan development, financial projects, lending processes and best practices.

The workshops are open to the general public and the cost of each workshop is $10.00 per person. To register, contact Brad Klein, director of the Pocono Mountains Keystone Innovation Zone and ESU's Business Accelerator, at (570) 422-7920. The deadline for registration is the Monday preceding each workshop.

Checks should be made payable to the ESU CFRED and mailed to: ESU Research and Economic Development, 200 Prospect Street, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301. The workshops are sponsored by the University of Scranton Small Business Development Center and the East Stroudsburg University Office of Research and Economic Development.
