President Robert J. Dillman Dr. Robert J. Dillman has been President of East Stroudsburg University since 1996 and during his tenure, he has moved the university forward in many ways including, among others:
  • The initiation and expansion of the university's Business Accelerator. The accelerator offers real world business experience for students and affordable start-up capabilities for viable new businesses which have already created 80 family-sustaining jobs in Monroe County.
  • The President has guided ESU in many construction projects that have enhanced operations. Most recently, a new attractive admissions center at the entrance to campus in the current Reibman Administration Building and "University Ridge," a brand new apartment-style housing complex for students. Other major changes in recent years have been the addition of a state-of-the-art Student Recreation Center, an Enrollment Services Center and a new Alumni Center.
  • He is now working with the university's advancement team in pursuit of a major capital project, the centerpiece of which is a $40 million Science and Technology Center. Groundbreaking took place in April 2006 and the building will be completed in the summer of 2008.
  • He has strongly supported the work of ESU's faculty and provost in order to add several new degree programs:
    • Undergraduate:
      • Computer Security (the only such undergraduate program in the nation)
      • Academic reorganization which resulted in the newly named College of Business, Management and Economics and the College of Education
      • Industrial Physics
      • Art and Design
      • Health Services Administration
    • Graduate:
      • Management and Leadership
He has guided many community projects including a banner project that partnered ESU with the borough of East Stroudsburg, as well as participating in the Eastburg Community Alliance's "Visioning" initiative meetings, an exciting effort to revitalize East Stroudsburg. Dr. Dillman also continues to be an active member of the Pocono Mountains Chamber of Commerce and other important organizations in the Pocono region.

The university has engaged in Master Planning throughout Dr. Dillman's tenure, and has just begun its second ten-year master plan, an inclusive process which involves campus-wide participation. One of the many initiatives which came out of the first ten-year master plan under the president was the new Science and Technology Center. Clearly the students of the coming decade will benefit from enhanced learning experiences made possible through the practicality of such planning for the future on behalf of ESU's higher education mission.
