The Northeast Wildlife DNA Laboratory is actively involved in a number of ongoing wildlife management and genetic studies through cooperative research being conducted by the Department of Biological Sciences at East Stroudsburg University and the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife.

This cooperative provides a unique opportunity for students to be involved and gain experience through real–world genetic applications.

Current research studies are focused on genetic applications for a variety of wildlife species e.g. black bear, river otter, American kestrel, brook trout, bobcat, white–tailed deer, coyote, and opossum.

These projects are looking at high–profile animals that are either threatened, endangered, or require population management.
