Policy Statement:

All East Stroudsburg University students who have made a deposit for on campus housing, including returning students, students housed from the waiting list, transfer students, and incoming, first-year students may request a housing deposit refund if they meet the criteria stated below:

  • A student residing in university housing during the Fall semester and is student teaching or serving an internship away from the local area for the second semester
  • A student residing in university housing during the Fall semester and is approved to graduate in December (that same semester)
  • A student is academically suspended due to failure to meet academic progress standards
  • A student makes a waiting list application and pays the deposit, but never receives an assignment due to no space availability
  • A student cancels his/her housing contract prior to July 1 of the upcoming academic year
  • A student removes their name from the waiting list prior to receiving a housing offer

Students requesting a refund for the above mentioned reasons must make the request in writing to the Housing and Operations office. Contact the Housing and Operations Office for the current deposit rate.

The following are conditions under which the deposit is non-refundable:

  • A student is suspended from housing for conduct reasons
  • A student cancels his/her housing contract after the July 1 deadline
  • A student makes a waiting list application and pays the deposit, receives an offer of housing, but turns it down
  • A student transfers or withdraws from the University either during a semester, or between Fall and Spring

Appeal Statement:

Students may submit a written appeal to the Director of Residence Life and Housing.
