The American Red Cross needs volunteers for all blood drives in the area. Duties include check in/registration, escorting people, food table monitoring and much more. American Cancer Society

Fundraising Volunteers: We are looking for fundraising volunteers (assistance with Relay For Life, special events) and the hours are flexible. Drivers: We also need volunteer Road To Recovery drivers to take patients to and from their cancer related appointments. You need to be at least 18 years of age, have a good driving record, proof of insurance, a reliable vehicle or use and ACS vehicle, a clear background check, and computer access, laptop or Ipad. Rides are provided during the day, Monday-Friday and the hours are flexible. You can volunteer as little or as much as your schedule allows. Animal Welfare Society of Monroe (AWSOM)

AWSOM is an animal shelter for Monroe County’s stray, homeless, neglected or abused animals. They are currently looking for shelter volunteers to assist in animal care and dog walking. They are also looking for animal lovers to help out with fundraising.

Big Brother Big Sisters of Monroe County

This organization is in need of volunteers to be a big brother or big sister. One hour per week is required, and for students on break, one phone call is required. The volunteer requirement is one year as a Big Brother or Big Sister in the community or at JM Hill Elementary.

Brodhead Watershed Association

Brodhead Watershed Association is looking for volunteers to assist Theresa Merli and Rob Sedwin with soliciting donations for the Silent Auction; and assisting with general set-up and organization on the evening of the dinner. Pocono Heritage Land Trust

Pocono Heritage Land and Trust is looking for volunteers for their trail work every third Saturday of every month. There is a standing Greenway Volunteer Work Day on the Greenway trails every month. Stroud Region Open Space and Recreation Commission

Devereux

Devereux is a residential program for individuals with developmental disabilities. The residents range in age from adolescents to geriatrics. They need help with both residents and their day program with activities; they are also looking for administrative help in their offices. Developmental Education Services of Monroe County

This organization helps to provide professional care for the severely handicapped so they can remain a part of their family and community. Developmental Education Services is currently looking for some volunteers to help do some one time outside yard maintenance at our facility (weeding, spreading mulch, planting, etc.). They also need volunteers throughout the week to help with community activities, bowling, gym program, etc.). Easton Hospital

Equi-librium

This organization provides equine-assisted activities for children and adults. They are currently in need of responsible and reliable volunteers to work with the children leading horses. Commitment to a 10-week session is required. They are looking for leaders as well as side helpers, but for leading there is a required training session. They have trainings monthly on Saturdays. Girls on the Run Poconos Chapter

Girls on the Run is a nonprofit 501(c) 3 program for girls in the third to seventh grade. They are always looking for volunteers to help with their program as assistant coaches, running buddies, and other various tasks. They are also looking for volunteers at their programs running at multiple local school districts such as Stroudsburg Intermediate Elementary, Stroudsburg Middle School, Notre Dame, East Stroudsburg Elementary, and at JM Hill Elementary School. Golden Living Center

Golden Living Center is a long term nursing facility, which is looking for volunteers to work with residents helping with activities time, games, bingo, crafts and other activities. Monroe County Meals on Wheels

This organization needs volunteers to deliver food to homes in the local community. They deliver food Monday-Friday from 10-11:30a.m., and students must have an automobile and proper insurance in order to participate. Looking for volunteers to transport meals to 2 apartment buildings West Gate and Milestone Corners both about 10 miles round trip from ESU. Pocono Family YMCA

Pocono Family YMCA is looking for volunteers to help with special events such as family fun night that they have twice a month on Saturdays from 5-9pm or throughout the week to help with administrative or office tasks. Pocono Alliance

Volunteers are needed for a new program called Running Bridges out of Poverty which aims to help families work to get out of poverty. They also need volunteers every Thursday from 5-8:00pm. Volunteers will work with the families with children to provide a daycare while in the mentoring session from 5:30-7:30 on Tuesdays. Volunteers will also be given a meal with the families at 5:30 at the beginning of each program session. They are also starting a new program Monroe in Motion which is working to help keep our youth active and healthy.

They need volunteers to be on a task force, computer help, and office volunteers from 9am-4pm specifically students who are computer savvy.

Pocono Pines Clymer Library

This Library is in need of volunteers, they offer flexible schedules, common shifts though 10-1, 1-3, and 3-5 most week days except Tuesdays they have a late shift available from 4-8pm. They are also open Saturday from 1pm-5pm. They need help shelving books, checking in books, and checking out books.

Pocono Services for Families and Children Monroe County Head Start

Pocono Services for Families and children is looking for volunteers to help in the classrooms, with activities, reading, lunchtime, playground time, as well as with clerical help in the office. They are looking for immediate help from someone who has experience in working with a Mac that can help with communications and marketing. They are very flexible with schedules for volunteers and open 5 days a week from 6:30am-6pm.

Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

RSVP has volunteer opportunities working with seniors. Volunteer tasks include things like helping with grocery shopping, friendly visits, phone calls, mentoring, minor home repair, reading, park trails & clean-ups, and clerical tasks in their office.

Slate Belt Heritage Center

The Slate Belt Heritage Center is a local museum in Bangor, Pennsylvania. They preserve the historic and ethnic traditions of the Slate Belt, which is the Bangor & Pen Argyl School District area. They run completely off of volunteer participation and are looking for volunteers, they are open from April thru November on Saturdays and Sundays from 12-3. They need volunteers to inventory, do computer work, and take desk duty. They are also looking for people to be on duty while the museum is open. They also use History majors or those interested in history that might be interested in being a curator and spend some time in the museum studying, researching, and helping with displays.

Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church Food Pantry

The Helping Hands food pantry needs volunteers to help bag food on the Monday Before the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month. They also need volunteers on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month at 4:00-4:30pm to pick up bags and help out in the kitchen.

United Way of Monroe County

United Way is looking for volunteers to help with communications and marketing projects. They need volunteers to help assisting in the office, organizing volunteers, scheduling trainings and helping with fundraising. They are also looking for individuals who are computer savvy to help with working on databases, outlook, and constant contact. They also have internships available for administration, web design, communications, and marketing.

Youth Infusion

Youth Infusion is an organization that creates both school-based and community-based programs for youth in northeast Pennsylvania. They have the following volunteer/internship opportunities available. Tech savvy students to assist with website updates and social media account updates. Students to serve as youth program leaders for their 4th grade Shape Up/Youth Triathlon Program at Stroudsburg Intermediate Elementary School, 3rd grade in school projects, Trips for Kids after school and Saturday mountain biking rides, and Tobacco Free Youth Campaign After School Program at East Stroudsburg South. They are also looking for volunteers/interns for Grant writing assistants (research and writing) and event staff for events such as Youth Triathlon program.
